The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council Limited (APAC) is seeking applications from experienced and committed individuals interested in joining our Board of Directors.

As Australia’s independent higher education accreditation authority for psychology programs, APAC places a central role in supporting high-quality psychology and education to help ensure graduates are prepared to meet the needs of the profession and the communities it serves.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of a national organisation at a time of significant change across psychology education, accreditation and workforce development.

About the Opportunity

APAC is seeking to appoint a director to fill an upcoming vacancy for a three-year term. Working alongside fellow directors, the successful applicant will contribute to APAC’s governance and strategic oversight, supporting the organisation’s ongoing work to strengthen accreditation, promote educational quality and respond to the evolving needs of the psychology sector.

Directors receive an annual fee for their service on the Board of Directors and Committees and are reimbursed for approved travel and accommodation expenses associated with Board activities.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced individual who can contribute strategic insight, sound judgement and constructive challenge to APAC’s Board. Applicants should demonstrate:

  • An understanding of governance and fiduciary duties, including the legal and financial responsibilities associated with being a director of a registered charity.
  • Expertise in psychology education and accreditation, with knowledge of APAC’s Accreditation Standards, processes and service delivery.
  • The ability to contribute to organisational strategy, risk management and business development through thoughtful questioning and analysis.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, together with a clear commitment to APAC’s values, purpose and strategic priorities.

APAC values diversity and is committed to fostering an inclusive and representative Board. We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

How to Express Your Interest and Apply

Prospective candidates are invited to contact APAC’s Company Secretary to request further information about the opportunity, including the Candidate Information Pack, Position Description, Skills Matrix and Candidate Application Form.
