The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is pleased to announce that the next phase of the 2025 Alignment Accreditation Standards Review will commence on Tuesday 13 May 2025.
This important consultation phase marks a significant milestone in strengthening psychology education and training in Australia. We will be seeking feedback on the proposed 2025 Accreditation Standards, developed through extensive consultation with stakeholders and informed by the Psychology Board of Australia’s (PsyBA) Professional Competencies for Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
About the Consultation
From 13 May 2025, stakeholders will be able to access the proposed Accreditation Standards and supporting consultation materials on the APAC website. Feedback is invited from higher education providers (HEPs), psychology professionals, students, government bodies, and all those with an interest in psychology education and training, both in Australia and internationally.
This consultation will remain open until 13 June 2025. Submissions will not be accepted after this date.
The proposed Accreditation Standards are designed to reflect contemporary best practice, regulatory requirements and the evolving needs of the psychology profession. Feedback received during this period will inform the finalisation of the Accreditation Standards, which will be submitted to the Psychology Board of Australia for approval later this year.
How to Participate
Stakeholders can formally provide feedback by completing the consultation submission template. Further guidance is available in the consultation paper. A short survey will also available for stakeholders wishing to provide feedback without completing a full consultation submission.
All consultation materials, including access to the survey, will be available via the Alignment Accreditation Standards Review webpage.
Next Steps
APAC thanks the sector for its ongoing engagement and contributions throughout this review. We look forward to working closely with stakeholders as we finalise the Accreditation Standards.
We strongly encourage all stakeholders to review the proposed standards and share their views. Your feedback is critical to ensuring the standards continue to support quality, confidence and workforce readiness across psychology education and training.
